ADOPTION

Before deciding to adopt, please carefully consider the maintenance and time that is required to ensure that your mice remain happy and healthy throughout their lives.

Mice require regular handling in order to remain friendly.

Although they can live very fulfilled lives with minimal handling, it does need to be frequently done in order to maintain their friendly behaviour.

Mice are fragile and easy to injure if not handled gently. Therefore they should not be left unsupervised with children under 12.

Female mice are extremely social and are happiest living in groups of three or more, whereas male mice must live solitary. Adopting a male mouse is not recommended unless regular handling is guaranteed. Although male mice do not enjoy the company of fellow mice, they do enjoy the company of people and need daily interaction to remain fulfilled. Female mice do not require as much attention as they have the company of each other. This is important to consider.

Mice enclosures require plenty of regular cleaning. Mice have an extremely fast metabolism, and they need to consume more food per gram of their body weight than most mammals. Because of this, they urinate and defecate at an extremely fast rate and thus their bedding requires changing more frequently than most people assume.

Mice eat a wide range of foods and therefore require a wide range of nutrients. It is important to offer a variety of fruits, vegetables, carbs, and some meats as well as an unlimited supply of 'Origins Rodent' or 'Science Selective Rodent' dry kibble.

Mice need space. Although mice are tiny, they are extremely active and require specific housing needs. Some of these needs include deep dust free bedding / substrate for digging and nesting, ever changing enrichment such as toys and a wheel to keep them entertained, and an enclosure with floor space of at least 70cm X 50cm (about the size of a 100L storage tub!)

Proof of housing is required prior to adoption.

With all of the above considered, it's time to adopt! Please browse our available mice and fill out the adoption form below, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We have no available mice at this time, please check back soon!
